School Buddies for Life?

When we were young, life seemed to be very complicated, right?

As 90s kids, our majority of school life revolved around academics, projects, crushes, parents’ favorite child, friends’ group-basically a “Gang”, birthday parties at our houses where everyone use to bring wrapped presents for us, this was the time when birthdays were exciting, Isn't it?
This was also the time when you met hundreds of temporary people in your life.
Now that we look back at our school lives, it was the golden period. When we unexpectedly met people and never thought that they will be our friends still end up being the BFFs. Meanwhile, the ones’ who were meant to be together, are strangers.
The known Troublemaker of the class, she literally used to beat the shit out of boys. The prettiest girl of the class, she undoubtedly bagged the role of Cinderella. They have managed to be my friends . And you know what, these two have had a history. "Troublemaker" had stricked  "Cinderella's head with her water-bottle in "UKG" and boom! Parents-teacher meeting.

Other than these two, I had friends who enjoyed eating Momos and Golgappes after school more than going to cafes and expensive restaurants. They enjoyed tripling on scooties  than travelling in cars (as if we had the other option 😝). We have lived in the times where having 100/- was an invite for the entire group to have a party at Thapa Momos. It was not that we couldn’t afford expensive restaurants, it was more like who would spend this much on these forever hungry bunch of people.

Those days were more precious. Stalking crushes on Facebook was much satisfying than actually talking to them in person. Happiness meant stealing tiffins in first two periods and sharing it with friends. Proud moments were winning basketball and football matches. Fun was in performing dangerous experiments in Chemistry Labs and blasting the test-tubes with the help of Concentrated Hydrochloric Acid.

School friends are the ones who actually know the real you, you have done the shittest things in front of them, they are the ones who have seen you evolve, they are straight-up treasures. If at all you were able to keep them, Bingo! You have earned a jackpot. Maintaining a friendship for 15 straight years isn’t that easy.
Till +2, I had so many fights with Troublemaker. I never thought that she could turn out to be the one I keep calling at 3 AM.  Now I can confidently say that our thought process are totally different in some or the other way but we know that we share a strong bond which can never be broken. Meanwhile, Cinderella is the one who often saved me from trouble. Fortunately or unfortunately, she used to get scolded for my bad deeds and she happens to be the one I can always count on.

I didn’t know how to tie my shoelaces till 11th and it happened often that my shoelaces were left open. Luckily, I had friends who without giving it a second thought use to sit and tie those laces in front of everyone, even during recess. How could I forget these gestures? Where life is full of competitions, Give & Take Relationships and Hustle, there were these idiots teaching me how to tie that stupid shoelace.

Never expect that you will always be with likeminded people. Life always brings the most unexpected people in your lives. The ones you expect to stay with you forever might be the one’s leaveing you as soon as your part in their life is over. Be with the ones for whom you don’t have to change yourself and who help you to grow instead of pulling you down.

If you aren’t surrounded by such people, I would advise you to carry that Captain America shield with you all the time.
